Mysore:  Mysore MP Pratap Simha has urged banks to  win the confidence of the farming community by  enlightening them on various  facilities available to them through banks.

He was addressing a progress review meet of District Lead Banks at the ZP Auditorium here on June 26, Thursday. He also requested banks to communicate with their customers in Kannada as it will help in good co-ordination.

A Field Agricultural Officer who  responded to the request of the MP, said  unlike in the past when the posts of field agricultural officers were appointed through campus interviews in Agricultural Colleges, now  the selection is made through IBPS  which brings  many candidates from other states who find it difficult to interact with farmers in local dialect.

The MP assured to take up the issue with the authorities concerned. He further requested the officials to appeal to the  government to extend the last date which is June 30 for farmers to register themselves for crop insurance.
