MLA Tanveer Sait attacked, hospitalised

Mysuru: Senior Congress leader, former Minister and now MLA from Narasimharaja Constituency of Mysuru, Tanveer Sait, was attacked about 10 PM on Sunday, in a wedding ceremony in Mysuru.

When seated in the front row beside his personal guard, a man approached and stabbed him in the left side of his neck. He received critical injuries and has been rushed to Columbia Asia hospital. He is now undergoing surgery.

The attacker, a 28-year-old man identified as Farhaan, a resident of Mysuru was nabbed by those present and handed over to the police, who are interrogating him.

Sait’s relative and noted social worker of Mysuru, Ibrahim Sait said that Tanveer Sait has lost a lot of blood and has suffered a very deep cut. Bleeding has stopped, but Ibrahim stopped short of saying that Tanveer Sait is completely out of danger.

Police Commissioner Mysuru has met Tanweer Sait and registered a case. The attacker has been placed under arrest.
