Mysuru: JD(S) MLA S R Mahesh, who was recently on a visit to Singapore, cut his trip short to return to his home for his pet monkey’s last rites.

The Legislator, who was scheduled to return on January 4, cut his visit short and returned on January 2, a day after his monkey, Chintu died at his farm in Dattagalli on the outskirts of Mysuru.

It is reported that the three-year-old monkey died after it accidentally fell on the electric line passing over the MLA’s farm.

After MLA Mahesh returned, the monkey was buried on the farm after the last rites were performed.

Mahesh’s brother, ZP member S R Nandeesh told the media that Chintu was brought from Chunchanakatter when it was only two months old. It had been on the farm ever since. The Legislator and his son are said to have been very attached to the pet monkey.
