Mysuru: Sri Vishvesha Teertha, seer of the Pejawar Mutt in Udupi and national advisor to the Vishwa Hindu Parishat (VHP) surprised everyone when he said that he was sad when JDS supremo H D Devegowda and Congress veteran leader Mallikarjun Kharge lost in the recently concluded Lok Sabha election.
“They should have won,” he said while addressing a press meet in Mysuru.
“Even though the JDS and Congress had a pre-poll alliance in the Lok Sabha election, the Hindutva issue led to their defeat. But personally, I feel that they should have won and gotten the chance to represent the state in Delhi,” he said, adding that their defeat pained him.
Declining to react to article 370 of the Indian Constitution, he stated that the Kashmir issue should be resolved by taking the locals into confidence.
“Equality before the law should be implemented. The Union government must work towards constructing a Ram Mandir in Ayodhya and implement a ban on cow slaughter,” he said.
