Mysuru: Eighty-years-old Channe Gowda, who rose to fame as ‘Gadappa’ in award winning Kannada movie ‘Thithi’, has been creating awareness about the importance of voting for more than five decades.
When asked about the Mandya constituency, Channe Gowda said “I know both Congress-Janata Dal (S) candidate Nikhil Kumaraswamy and independent candidate Sumalatha Ambarish very well, but I will not campaign for anyone. However, I will definitely vote which I am doing for more than five decades”.
Speaking to Newskarnataka he said “Voting is our right and is our responsibility to vote for the right and able candidate. Apart from voting I will also try my level best to create awareness of voting among my people in Nodhe Koppalu village. Whenever I am free I go to people and tell them about importance of voting. I am confident that people will come out in large numbers to vote in the upcoming election”.
Channe Gowda also mentioned that actor Upendra visited him to know about his health and that the actor briefed about ‘Prajakeeya’. Gadappa had suffered a stroke and was admitted in hospital for few days. He is now recovering.
