Mysuru: Yaduveer Krishnadatta Chamaraja Wadiyar of the Mysuru royal family, has opposed the demolition of the 129-year-old Devaraja Market.

It can be recalled that the Mysuru City Corporation announced its plans to demolish the heritage building based on the recommendation of the Heritage Committee led by MCC Deputy Commissioner Abhram Sankar.

Voicing his opinion, Yaduveer said, “The Palike (MCC) has not made the expert report public. The committee comprised only engineers.”

“The Devaraja Market is a heritage building. Civil engineers won’t have enough knowledge about such buildings. These heritage buildings were constructed with limestone,” he added.

He added that the Government should consult the public and take their opinion. “Heritage structures must be saved,” he added.
