Mysuru: GSSS Institute of Engineering and Technology for Women, Mysuru had organized the 5th National Level IEEE Project Competition-2021 under IEEE Student Branch (STB1786) in association with IEEE Bangalore Section and IEEE Mysuru Subsection on 26th June 2021 in online mode.

The inaugural function was held on Saturday 26th June 2021 from 9.30 AM on the Webex platform. The 5th National Level Project Competition-2021 was inaugurated by the Chief Guest Dr K R Suresh Nair, Chair, IEEE India Council Founder and CEO of Design Alpha, Guest of Honor, BS Bindhumadhava IEEE Bangalore, Section Scientist G & Senior Director, CDAC Bangalore, and Special Guest Puneet Kumar Mishra, Vice-Chair (Professional Activities), IEEE India Council, Head, SACT&D, ISRO, Bangalore, Dr Shivakumar M, Principal, GSSSIETW, Mysuru and IEEE Student Branch Counsellor Dr Parameshachari B D, Professor & Head, Dept. of TCE. The event was graced by Jury members, Head of the Departments of GSSSIETW, IEEE Faculty Coordinators and student participants from various engineering college across the country.

The Chief Guest Dr K R Suresh Nair in his inaugural address spoke about the importance of participation in the technical competition by the students along with academic performance to meet the industry standards. He also mentioned that it is a platform to find future entrepreneurs and researchers who can contribute to society. He has also highlighted the activities of the IEEE Banglore section and the support given by the government of India to transform the idea into a product for young entrepreneurs.

The Guest of Honour, BS Bindhumadhava appreciated the organizer for receiving such a huge number of quality projects in the competition. He has appreciated all the jury members and coordinators. He mentioned that the multidisciplinary and multi-institutional projects will enhance efficiency and competency in research and product development components.

Special Guest Puneet Kumar Mishra appreciated the quality of the projects received in the competition. In his speech, he spoke about the opportunities in satellites and space technology in the fields like telecommunication, navigation, earth observation, etc. He suggested students think in the direction of being an entrepreneur in the field of space technology.

Dr M Shivakumar, Principal, GSSSIETW expressed that competition is a platform for the students to exhibit their ideas and skills acquired by them for learning. He mentioned that the 5th National IEEE Project Competition has received a good response from participants of various institutions across the country, he also thanked all the jury members for being a counterpart in the success of the event.

 The inaugural function was started with the invocation of almighty by Dr S Padmashree, Professor, Department of ECE, GSSSIETW, followed by a welcome address by Dr G Manjula, IEEE SB Faculty Advisor, Assoc. Prof, Dept. of ECE, the significance of project competition was highlighted by Dr Parameshachari B D, IEEE Student Branch Counselor, Professor & Head, Dept. of TCE. Finally, the event was concluded with a Vote of thanks by Keerthi Kumar M,  Asst. Prof,  Dept of TCE, GSSSIETW, Mysuru.

After the inaugural function, 50 parallel sessions were conducted to evaluate the projects in virtual mode on the google meet platform. IEEE Project Competition has received around 1000 projects across India among which only 750 projects were selected for competition. Projects selected for this competition are segregated into 50 Sessions, based on the domain.  Academicians and experts were invited from various reputed colleges and Companies across India to evaluate the projects. A total of 50 best projects were selected as Best Projects which will be awarded attractive cash prize and certificate.
