Mysore: The Mysore District Gram Panchayat  Municipal Workers Association  staged a demonstration in front of the Dr BR Ambedkar Development Corporation office at Lakshmipuram on Wednesday July 2 in protest against the  failure  of the government schemes like Safai Karmachari Rehabilitation Scheme reaching the target groups.

The protestors expressed anguish and said that the  act of the present directors of the Social Welfare Department  of bringing  rules in accordance to their whims and fancies, had hit hard the potential beneficiaries of the scheme.

The assurance to  abolish the new rules has not been fulfilled, they said. A memorandum was also forwarded to the Chief Minister through the Deputy Commissioner.

The Karnataka State Uppara Yuva Vedike also organised a protest on Wednesday condemning  the  injustice done to Suresh, a junior engineer under NREGA Scheme in Kuratti Hosur Gram Panchayat of Chamrajnagar. The protestors alleged that the  harassment meted out to Suresh by the former GP Chief Sardar, his wife and Anganavadi worker Sarojamma and PDO Vairamudi drove Suresh to suicide.

K Somashekhar, State President of the Vedike, KT Mohan Kumar, District President and others participated in the protest.
