Mysuru: The conversion of four trains plying between Mysuru and Bengaluru into superfast trains has potentially cut down the travel time between the two cities. These four trains were flagged off on Independence Day, August 15.

Out of the four, two are daily trains (Malgudi Express and Mysuru-Mayiladathurai Express), one is a weekly train (Mysuru Sainagar Shirdi Weekly Express) and the fourth is a tri-weekly train (Kannur/Karwar-KSR Bengaluru Express). The cost of the tickets has gone up by Rs 15 (from RS 60 to Rs 75) but, the travel time is now 2.5 hours.

All those who have made reservations before the change was made will have to pay Rs 15 extra to the Travelling Ticketing Examiner on board the trains.

The trains’ schedule has also been altered. The 16231 Mysuru-Maviladuturai Express will now depart from Mysuru at 4:15 PM and arrive in Bengaluru at 6:45 PM. The 16023 Mysuru-Yeswanthpur Express will depart from Mysuru at 8:25 AM and arrive in Bengaluru at 10:55 AM. The 16217 Mysuru-Sainagar Shirdi Express will depart at 5:30 AM and arrive in Bengaluru at 8 AM.

The 16518/16524 Kannur-Karwar Express departure time will remain the same but will reach Bengaluru at 8 AM.
