Bengaluru: Minister for Medical Education Dr Sudhakar has thanked the medical fraternity for withdrawing the stir.
It may be recalled that death of Nanjangud Taluk Health Officer Dr SR Nagendra had sparked protest by the doctors who alleged that the Zilla Panchayat CEO is responsible for the suicide of the doctor.
However, on Sunday, the doctors decided to withdraw the protest after four days.
Due to the stir, the patients were put to trouble in the COVID wards in Mysuru and the COVID data entry too was stalled for two days.
After a meeting of the Karnataka State Medical Doctors Association, the doctors called off the stir.
Lauding the decision of the doctors, Sudhakar said that the government is aware of the problems faced by the medicos during the COVID crisis.
“The CM has promised to solve the issues faced by the doctors,” he said.
Karnataka Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa, on Friday ordered an inquiry into the suicide of Dr Nagendra.
He also announced an ex-gratia of Rs 50 lakh for the family of Nagendra.
