Hunsur: Former chief minister Siddaramaiah has opined that the politicians must not resort to ‘truth test’ and challenging each other to prove who had done the righteous deeds at the temples.
Addressing the gathering at the inauguration of the renovated Sri Chennakeshava Swamy Temple, he said, “Politicians must not use temples, as the platform of ‘truth test’ as such instances are growing in number. This will disturb the sanctity of the temple. Such acts should not be done in temples.”
“A person, especially from the field of politics can become a true leader and a devotee, by honestly and promptly serving the people. ‘Work is worship’ should be the principle of a true leader. Only then can he be close to God”, he added.
Further he said, “Being a human, one must inculcate a ‘live and let live’ quality by flushing off jealousy, hatred and selfishness.”
Meanwhile, Siddaramaiah opined that offering pujas and chanting mantras at the temple was of no use, if the person continued to think negative and schemed to ruin others' lives.
