Mysuru: A senior superintendent of posts has landed in trouble after directing his subordinates to make sure that the booklets on achievements of Mysuru MP Pratap Simha are delivered diligently within a stipulated timeframe.

In this regard, KS Shivaram, President of Backward Classes Vedike lodged a complaint against N Prakash, Senior Superintendent of Posts, Mysuru division. Accordingly, Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Shankar issued notice to Prakash, who on Friday tendered his explanation.

It can be brought to light that on Thursday Shivaram lodged a complaint with District Election Officer (DEO) and Mysuru DC Abhiram G Sankar demanding action against both-Prakash and MP Prathap Simha, claiming that their action violated the election code of conduct.

The Senior Superintendent of posts, Mysuru Division, has issued letter to his subordinates on March 11, a day after election code of conduct came into force and hence the complainant has said that the Senior Superintendent of Posts has misused his position and has favoured MP Pratap Simha. Shivaram said that Prakash, in his letter has asked his subordinates to ensure delivery of booklets in parts of Mysuru and Kodagu within March 16 and send him reports of delivery before March 18. In his letter he also called upon his subordinates to send details of postman and number of articles delivered. The official even had warned that any complaints of non-delivery will be treated seriously.

Speaking to Newskarnataka N Prakash said “Based on notice by Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Sankar I have given my reply.” He was not interested to speak further. Deputy Commissioner Abhiram Sankar also mentioned that only after going through his reply which he had sent on Friday future course of action will be initiated.
