Mysuru: Continuing his tirade against the appointment of IAS officer Rohini Sindhuri as the new Deputy Commissioner of Mysuru, JD(S) MLA Sa Ra Mahesh has opined that her appointment is a ‘gift’ for helping Andhra Pradesh, her home state.

It may be recalled that IAS office B Sharat was transferred out of Mysuru within 29 days of his appointment as the DC and Sindhuri was posted in his place.

Close on the heels of this development, Mahesh had said that a Kannadiga-Dalit officer has been sent out to accommodate a lady IAS officer from Andhra Pradesh.

However, continuing his attack, he said that Rohini Sindhuri, who was the Endowment Commissioner, has benefited her home state by facilitating the Karnataka state charities at Tirumala recently.

“The Rs 200 cr project will be managed by the Tirupati Tirumala Devaswom Board. The project has benefited Andhra Pradesh in a big way. A firm named Gayathri and Namit has been given the responsibility of the architectural aspects and it has been given exemption under the Karnataka Transparency in Public Procurements Act. Don’t we have government agencies to take up this project? Are we not capable of handling these projects? What is the Public Works Department doing? Don’t we have designers and architects? We are using our money, our land and getting the work done from them,” he said adding that the government is running a ‘transfer business’.

“It is said that they are demanding Rs 20 lac for transferring an SI,” Mahesh alleged.
