Mysuru: The cracks on the Kukkarahalli lake walking path has been raising the eyebrows of the regular strollers here. Though it was brought to the notice of the University of Mysore authorities, it was not set right. On Tuesday, April 23, when Lingaraja Gandhi, Registrar of University of Mysore came to know of the issue, he assured to set right it on Wednesday.

According to the environmentalists who regularly visit Kukkarahalli lake said that the crack occurs due to soil settlement at the bund. When the soil slides on either sides of the bund, these cracks can occur. Usually, every year such cracks are seen and immediately the authorities used to fill it but this year though it was brought to the notice of authorities, no action was taken. However, the crack doesn’t pose any danger to the people.

Speaking to Newskarnataka, Registrar Lingaraja Gandhi said, “Along with our engineers concerned, I will take up inspection on Wednesday and immediately take measures to fill up the cracks. Apart from this, we will also try to construct a gravel along the walking path.”
