Mysuru: A member of a Ponzi scheme gang was severely injured by the police firing during a raid on them in the Vijayanagar police station limits. The injured gangster died later.
The gang had recently shifted from Mumbai to Mysuru and settled in Vijayanagara where they were running the money doubling business.
On a tip-off received from reliable sources, police inspector Kumar and his team raided the gang. When one of the gang members was caught by the police, he tried to grab the inspector’s gun and shoot at the police. The police shot him down in self-defence.
The seriously injured gangster was admitted to K R Hospital but he succumbed to his injuries.
There is no information as of now regarding the whereabouts of the deceased person. The police involved in the raid were also injured. A case has been registered in the Vijayanagara police station.
