Mysuru: Assistant professors working on a contract-basis at the Government Nature Cure and Yoga Medical College and Hospital on a contract basis have not received their salaries. They teach, as well as look after patients, every day.

As they have not been paid for eight months, these assistant professors have been facing a lot of difficulties. They work more than eight hours a day as they have to look after the patients and taking classes.

Even though this issue was brought to the notice of the department heads, nothing has been done and they are finding it difficult to look after their families.

On the condition of anonymity, one of the assistant professors said, “We have not got our salaries for the last eight months, not just one or two months. The authorities have not taken our issues seriously, and this has made our lives miserable. We also have a lot of commitments. I don’t know why the authorities are delaying our salaries. Because of the delay, our families are facing a lot of problems. We request the authorities to please release our salaries.”

When asked about this issue, Jawaid Akhtar, Principal Secretary, Health and Family Welfare Services told Newskarnataka, “Fewer funds were allocated during the budget. We have taken up this issue with the Finance Department. They will be getting their dues in another month or two.”
