SIDDU SEVAMysuru: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah denied allegations of political motive in handing over the case to the Special Investigation Team (SIT) to probe illegal mining.

Taking to media while taking part in Suttur Matt religious fair, the CM said the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) did not show inclination to continue the probe citing lack of evidence. The preliminary investigation report has clearly indicated the role of the Reddy brothers in “illegal mining” and to ensure that CBI’s failures do not absolve Reddy brothers indicted in the case, the state opted for SIT probe, CM explained.

The BJP which termed CBI as Chor Bachao Andolan during UPA’s regime is now embracing the investigating agency, CM charged. He also rued over the fact that the premiere central investigating agency did not follow the legalities in mining case.

The government’s decision to hand over the case to SIT hinged on the state cabinet sub-committee report, CM clarified.

Talking on budget, CM said meetings were being held with experts from diverse fields but no decision was taken on budgetary allocation.

On BJP National President Amit Shah’s threat of releasing a chargesheet against the state government, CM said an effort to make noise holding an empty basket will not yield results and added that opposition BJP had no real issues to take on the government.
