Blaming SDPI for attack on Tanveer Sait is politcally motivated: Abdul Majeed

Mysuru: The Social Democratic Party of India (SDPI), which was accused of masterminding the attack on Congress leader Tanveer Sait, has called the allegations ‘politically motivated.’

Speaking to the media on Wednesday, November 20, national general secretary of the SDPI, Abdul Majeed said, “The party has been accused of attacking Congress leader and MLA Tanveer Sait, which is not true. These allegations are politically motivated. The party condemns the attack as it is a heinous crime. But, when the case is still being investigated by the police, it is not right to blame the party for the act.”

“I assure you all that, I’ll tender my resignation immediately if investigations reveal that the party is involved. The accused attacker, Farhaan Pasha is not from the SDPI. He has worked not only for our party, but also for the Congress and Janata Dal (Secular) during the elections. Tanveer Sait and I are only political opponents. We have nothing to do with each other apart from that,” he added.

It can be recalled that Narasimharaja constituency MLA Tanveer Sait was attacked by a man with a knife during a wedding ceremony in the city late on Sunday, November 17 night. Later, the police had revealed that the alleged attacker’s name is Farhaan Pasha (25).
