Mysuru: A H Vishwanath, disqualified MLA and a former JD(S) leader, a day after joining the BJP, has claimed that party MP Srinivas Prasad approached him and asked him to lead the team that was to bring then party state president B S Yediyurappa to power in the Karnataka.
While addressing the party workers in Mysuru, Vishwanath said that one day, Srinivas Prasad called him to speak about the infamous “Operation Kamala”. “He (Prasad) told me that I should lead the team that will bring B S Yediyurappa to power as the Chief Minister of the state and I agreed. He told me to lead the team of disqualified MLAs,” the former JD(S) state president said.
It can be recalled that A H Vishwanath was among the 13 disqualified MLAs who, after joining the BJP, were given tickets to contest in the Assembly by-polls on December 5. He will be contesting from the Hunsur Assembly constituency.
A total of 16 of the disqualified MLAs joined the BJP on November 14, a day after the Supreme Court upheld former speaker Ramesh Kumar’s decision, while allowing them tp contest in the election.
