Mysuru: BJP Corporator Guruvinayaka representing Ward no 18 is in trouble following a complaint from NH Subhash, President of Karnataka State Tribals Hitharakshaa Sangha. The Sangha President, who approached the Municipal Commissioner has complained that Guruvinayaka, who contested corporation election from ward no 18, which was reserved for ST constituency doesn’t belong to Nayaka community, which come under ST category. Instead, Guruvinayaka hails from Pariwar community, which comes under OBC, he claimed. Based on his complaint a verification was undertaken and now Mysuru taluk Tahsildar and Caste Verification Committee have cancelled Guruvinayaka’s ST caste certificate.

“An ST caste certificate issued to Guruvinayaka, BJP corporator from Ward No 18 reserved for ST has been cancelled on February 1, 2019 by Mysuru Tahsildar. I had filed an appeal before Municipal Commissioner who in turn referred the matter to District SC/ST Caste Verification Committee . The Civil Rights Enforcement cell, after detailed verification cancelled the certificate issued to him. At last, justice prevailed,” said Subhash adding that the caste certificate of Guruvinayaka’s sister too has been cancelled.

Subhas has said that with this shameful act coming to light the district administration and corporation authorities must cancel membership of Guruvinayaka. He further added that the officials issue the SC/ST caste certificate for a few thousand rupees and the government must take stringent action against such guilty officers.

BJ Gokul, former General Secretary, Karnataka Pradesh Congress Committee SC/ST Wing briefed about how the case was fought. Mysuru Tahsildar Ramesh also confirmed the cancellation of caste certificate.

Speaking to Newskarnataka Guruvinayaka said “I have all documents to prove that I belong to Nayaka community, which comes under ST category. I have proof for my ancestry and now I will fight it legally.”
