Mysuru: State opposition leader and former chief minister Siddaramaiah has opined that the bifurcation of Mysuru district is not a good idea.

While addressing a gathering during a programme, Siddaramaiah criticized disqualified MLA A H Vishwanath and said, “Some of the political leaders are trying to bifurcate Mysuru by separating Hunsur taluk from it and making it a separate district. This is nothing but a political lobby for which I urge the state government not to accept at any cost.”

“Hunsur is just a few kilometers away from Mysuru. Keeping this in mind, is it possible to make a town into a district which is about 30 km away? Does it sound logical? “, he asked.

Further, Siddaramaiah said, “The Mysuru district has about six taluks. Is it logical to make Hunsur a separate district by taking away three taluks from Mysuru? It is unscientific and also not a good sign.”

It can be recalled that Vishwanath had demanded for the bifurcation of Mysuru by making Hunsur into a separate district. For this, he had even met Chief Minister B S Yediyurappa at his residence in Bengaluru with the proposal to create a new district in the name of former CM Devaraj Urs.
