The assistance is being provided for any type of therapy or educational assistance. Due to the coronavirus lockdown, there have been sudden disruptions in clinical services for persons with special needs and this has had an impact on the families and the individuals themselves.

The unprecedented situation in the country and the world is of great concern. M Pushpavathi, Director, AIISH expresses that sudden disruptions in receiving clinical services for persons with special needs has had an impact on the families and the individuals themselves. People from not only across the state, but also from across the country come to the Institute. For the past nearly ten days, AIISH has been helping caretakers via WhatsApp groups and various other online services, because of which parents are feeling relaxed.

Pushpavathi told Newskarnataka.com, “At this stage of the outbreak, we are concerned for our patients and beneficiaries. We request parents and families of persons with special needs not to get anxious or stressed. The Tele-Center for Persons with Communication Disorders (TCPD), which was established in the year 2009 has been rendering services through various methods such as video-conferencing, e-mode, tele-mode and so on. In this uncertain situation and during the lockdown, we urge the public to avail the services through TCPD,” she said.
