Yenepoya to conduct first of its kind marathon Yoga program on June 20

Mangaluru: Yenepoya (Deemed to be University) is conducting a marathon Yoga teaching programme for the public for 15 hours on June 20, in order to mark ‘International Yoga Day’

This programme of holding Yoga training continuously for 15 hours by a single Yoga teacher at a private Deemed to be university is first of its kind in India. The programme will begin at 5 am in the morning and will go on till 8 pm in the evening. Each session will be for one hour and thirty minutes. There will be around 100 participants in each batch. The target is to have a total of 1000 participants in 10 sessions from 5 am to 8 pm.

The training programme will be conducted in accordance with the notification received from the department of Ayush, government of India. This training is open to all and anyone interested in participating in this training programme can do so with prior registration.

Yoga trainer Kushalappa Gowda N told mediapersons at Patrika Bhavan on Tuesday, June 18 that participants will receive training in Yoga Kriya, Yoga asanas, pranayama, vishranti and meditation in one and half hours as per the Ayush guidelines. All participants will be given study materials for free, which will help them continue with the yoga practice on a daily basis. Each participant will get a free T-shirt. Entry is free for all, but with prior registration. The training will be provided at the indoor auditorium of Yenepoya Medical College, Deralakatte, he informed.
