Mangaluru: Earlier, the cool drink, liquor and juice bottles were considered useless after consuming its content. But here is someone who is turning this waste into works of art.
Megha Mendon, a resident of Bokkapatna is the one making art out of bottle waste.
The bottles including the glass ones, are being transformed into home decors by painting them with colourful patterns and illuminating them with miniature lighting.
She has even organised a workshop for children on this concept which involves drawing and painting different patterns on bottles.
The workshop is in progress on the banks of River Phalguni from yesterday i.e., Wednesday, May 1. It will be organised again on May 5, 12, 19 and 20, from morning to noon.
Megha Mendon has organised this workshop, keeping in mind the concept of ‘Swacch Bharath’, by utilising the emptied bottles which are normally discarded on roadsides, rivers and oceans.
The intention of the workshop is to prevent such waste from entering the eco-sensitive areas, protect the nature as well as create art out of waste.
