Karkala : Delivering babies in 108 Ambulance service of the government is nothing new these days. For many a time the ambulance reaches remote areas late and women suffering from labour pain, deliver babies enroute hospital, in the ambulance itself.
In another such case, Nagaveni (23) hailing from Ajekar village, delivered a baby girl in the 108 Ambulance on June 6, Thursday morning. If the 108 Ambulance service received a call from the womans family at around 4.45 am after she developed labour pains, the vehicle took almost 15 minutes to reach the spot as her house is located in a remote area. While being rushed to the hospital, Nagaveni delivered a baby in the ambulance itself with the timely help of Jaya Kumar, the medical assistance staff of the ambulance.
Sources revealed that already four deliveries have taken place in the 108 Ambulance in the region and this is the fifth delivery.
