Will attempt to bring India in our education system: Ramachandrapura Mutt seer

Mangaluru: Ramachandrapura Mutt seer Raghaveshwara Bharathi said that the Vishnugupta Vishwa Vidyapeetha, which will function from April 26 will be modelled on the lines of the ancient University of Takshashila and will focus on providing integrated Indian education with modern education.

He was addressing the gathering during an interaction progamme organised at Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall on Sunday, February 16.

Informing that the Vidyapeetha would be established at Gokarna, Raghaveshwara Bharathi said, “The ultimate aim of this university is to provide education from the first standard to post-graduation. The classes will begin in seven departments of under-graduate and post-graduate courses. Four vedas, four upavedas, six vedangas, epics, feasible art form from the 64 ancient arts, agriculture and many more other areas will form the syllabus. Students will also study modern languages like English and Hindi and Sanskrit,” he said and added that there is no age limit or barriers like caste, religion or sex to join the course.

Meanwhile, the seer clarified that the initiative doesn’t have any profit motive. “Though we have education in our country India, there is no India in our education system. In order to create a sense of nationality, patriotism, loyalty and honesty among our children, this initiative has been started,” he added.

Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary informed though it was the duty of the government to provide proper education, seer of Ramachandrapura Mutt planned to revive the education system through an ancient form of education. ” I am ready to extend all possible help towards this university and will make all possible attempts to obtain assistance from the state government. “

MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel, who was also present at the programme as chief guest informed that India has embraced the Macaulay system of education after British came to India, which replaced our traditional system of education. ” As union government has been recognising Sanskrit educational institutions in the recent years, I am ready to help Ramachandrapura Mutt in order to receive help from the union government,” he added.

RSS Supremo Kalladka Prabhakar Bhat, Karnataka Bank Managing Director Mahabaleshwara Rao, MLAs D Vedavyas Kamath, Dr Y Bharath Shetty, former minister Krishna J Palemar among others were present.
