Mangaluru: The district administration along with Mangaluru City Corporation authorities raided Shree Mangaladevi Temple’s premises for violating Covid lockdown rules by holding wedding functions on Sunday June 20.
Four weddings were held without the permission of the district administration at the temple’s wedding hall. On receiving information about the same, the officials raided the spot and stopped the proceedings.
Speaking to News Karnataka Dr. K. V. Rajendra said that, “Under the Karnataka Epidemic Disease Act, a criminal case has been lodged, and police will file a FIR against whoever is responsible. Nobody is allowed to gather outside their homes.”
He further stated that permission can only be granted to organise a wedding in their residence. “They are allegedly stating that permission has been granted. Nobody can give permission according to the order. The public is not permitted to visit the temple premises, and conducting the wedding is not at all permissible. Strict actions will be taken by the police.”
