Mangaluru: Close on the heels of MP Nalin Kumar’s allegation against Dakshina Kannada District In-charge Minister U T Khader and former MLA J R Lobo for the delay in completion of Pumpwell and Thokkottu flyovers, Khader rubbished the allegation and sought reason from Nalin for not completing the highway widening and upgrading works between Addahole and B C Road.

Speaking to mediapersons at Circuit House on Tuesday, February 19, Khader said that Nalin was simply blaming others as he had no major works to show the people while seeking votes in the upcoming elections. “The state government or any local leaders cannot interfere in the works pertaining to National Highway Authority of India (NHAI). If Nalin blames us for not completing flyover works, who is responsible for not completing highway widening works between Addahole and B C Road and also between Kulshekar and Karkala via Moodbidri. Though Nalin would blame others, people clearly know who is responsible for the delay in the completion of flyway works both at Pumpwell and Thokkottu”, he said.

While responding to a query on toll collection at NMPT and demand for removing the toll plaza at Suratkal, Khader said that he had already communicated with the Chief Secretary of state to convene a meeting with the PWD department and the officials of NHAI in this regard.
