Traffic in Car Street to be diverted for 40 days for Smart City work

Mangaluru: There will be a temporary diversion of traffic for 40 days from October 1 till November 29 in order to facilitate the Smart City work in Car Street.

The work will be conducted from the junction near the Lord Venkataramana temple till the Balaji Junction, informed Mangaluru Police Commissioner Vikas Kumar Vikash.

The new routes are as follows:

1. According to the Compol, buses on the State Bank-Car Street-Kudroli-Mannagudda route will henceforth take the route via the clock tower-Hampankatta-K S Rao Road-Navbharat Circle-Dongerkery Road-New Chitra Junction-Mannagudda.

2. Heavy, light and other goods vehicles plying from Bunder have to take the Bunder Junction-Azizuddin Road-Lower Car Street-Balaji Junction-New Chitra Junction-Mannagudda route.

3. Vehicles plying from Ladyhill to Bunder through Lower Car Street will have to take a left at the Durgamahal junction and drive through the Ballalbagh junction-Bunts Hostel-Hampankatta-A B Shetty circle route.

4. There is a ban on the movement of heavy goods vehicles plying from the New Chitra Junction to the Navbharat Circle.

The Compol also had prohibited motorists from parking on the roadside from the new Chitra Junction to the Navbharat circle and from the Srinivasa Hotel Junction to the Om Mahal Junction for as long as the work is in progress.

Additionally, Balmatta, Karangalpady and 59 other areas have been declared as no parking zones.
