Mangaluru: MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel stated that those who oppose the CAA, which was approved in the Parliament, and those who support the people who shout slogans in favour of enemy nations are anti-nationals.

He was addressing the gathering during the installation ceremony of the BJP’s new district president Sudarshan M and new BJP Mandal presidents at the Kudmul Ranga Rao Town Hall on Monday, February 24.

While opining why the Congress party lost power in the country, even though it is a 135-year-old party, Nalin said, ”The Congress party is a family-centric party and never allows others to assume the top-most posts in the party. All Prime Ministers from the Congress party, right from Jawaharlal to Manmohan Singh, are not free from corruption charges, except for Lal Bahadur Shastri. Now, its leaders are misguiding the people about the Citizenship (Amendment) Act, although it does not harm any citizens of our country. Under the pretext of opposing the CAA, it supports those who shout slogans against our enemy nation and this is equivalent to anti-national activities.”

Alleging that the Congress leaders are behind the recent violence in Mangaluru, Nalin said that former minister U T Khader’s ‘fire’ statement led to the Mangaluru violence. “Besides that, Khader has defamed our Prime Minister Narendra Modi in the Assembly and those who love our nation and our Prime Minister should not tolerate this. Hence, we should replace Khader with a BJP candidate in the next Assembly election,” he stressed.

Meanwhile, Nalin asked new district president Sudarshan to work hard, taking the confidence of all. “Our aim is to secure the maximum number of seats in the next Gram Panchayat elections. Sudarshan and all those who assume charge as the president of Mandals should strive hard in the next Gram Panchayat elections,” Nalin added.

District in-charge Minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said that under the BJP governance, both at the Centre and state, the nation is experiencing a golden era. “However, the government should never spare those who indulge in anti-national activities,” he stressed.

Sudarshan M, after assuming charge as the new president of the district BJP, recalled all those who helped him over the years. “An introductory speech which I had done during the Hindu Samajotsava of Moodbidri in 1994, had changed my life. After which I had assumed various positions in the BJP party. I will try my level best to ensure that the Dakshina Kannada district is a stronghold of the BJP forever,” he promised.

The outgoing district president of the BJP and MLA Sanjeeva Matandoor handed over the party flag to Sudarshan and wished him success. Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath welcomed the gathering. MLAs Hareesh Poonja, S Angara, Umanath Kotian, Dr Y Bharath Shetty, Zilla Panchayat president Meenakshi Shanthigodu, vice president Kasthuri Panja and others were present.
