Mangaluru:  Few teachers from Dakshina Kannada are going the extra mile and helping the students who have been crippled by the pandemic, to stay in touch with their lessons. As the government has not yet allowed classes for standard 1 to 5, teachers invite the students to their homes or to the school to impart knowledge, all done voluntarily.

According to a report given in the times of India daily, a government teacher commented that the children are more than happy to come to campus and learn. “The students who do not have access to online education finds this method very helpful.”

Another teacher said that government is making things easier for the students by promoting them without conducting examinations. A teacher from Bantwal argued that these children who are promoted who face difficulties to grasp lessons in the future.

Everyone from the locality is not on board with this idea. Some locals have complained after teachers started inviting students to schools for lessons.

Meanwhile in some places, other methods have been adopted by teachers to make sure that the students stay on track. Shambhu Shankar, coordinator, BRCC, Belthangady said that the students drop their homework in the nearby shops and the teachers come and collect them. “The teachers do the necessary corrections and give homework for the next day. They have devised their own network in a place which has no connectivity.” Said Shankar.
