Tanker carrying gas collapses near Surikumeru Mosque

Bantwal: The traffic on Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway, near Surikumeru Mosque, was blocked as a tanker carrying gas from Mangaluru side towards Bengaluru, collapsed as the driver lost control.

The incident is said to have occurred at midnight. All traffic on the Mangaluru-Bengaluru National Highway has been suspended as this could result in gas leakage. The technical team that controls the gas leak had arrived at the scene and taken precautionary measures.

Alternative road diversion has been arranged for the movement of vehicles. Vehicles moving from Mangaluru side to Bengaluru are informed to use Kalladka, Vittal road where as Bengaluru, Uppinangadi side vehicles are advised to use Mani, Budoli, Kabaka road. Vittal police and firefighters are operating in the area.

Members of the Budoli Youth Federation, Surikumeru Badriya Young Mens, and the public are controlling the traffic.

There has been no gas leak so far. Still, the mosque has instructed not to use fire in the surrounding homes through Public Address System
