Mangaluru: Author and Infosys Foundation chairperson, Sudha Murty on Saturday, March 28, delivered critical medical supplies to Mangaluru on the request of the city police, informed Commissioner of Police Dr P S Harsha.
Taking to Twitter on Saturday morning, the compol explained that the Mangaluru Police had, on behalf of the Dakshina Kannada district administration, requested Sudha Murty to send critical medical supplies to the district to help tackle the increasing coronavirus (COVID-19) cases.
“Mrs Sudha Murthy responded to the call of Mangalore Police on behalf of D K district administration and within 36hrs Critical Medical supplies worth Rs 28 lakhs have reached Mangalore We thank Madam Sudha Murty and Infosys Foundation’ Sri Ramdas Kamat and team,” he wrote.
Along with the tweet, Dr Harsha attached a photo of the truck that delivered the consignment. It bore a sticker that read “INFOSYS FOUNDATION COVID-19 RELIEF MATERIAL”

Newskarnataka.com, however, wasn’t able to obtain more information from the compol as he was otherwise occupied, as would be expected in the prevailing situation. But, Dr Harsha did confirm to reporters that the consignment arrived on Saturday morning.
Many Twitter users from the district lauded Sudha Murty for her prompt response to the call.
“She truly a wonderful human being!” wrote one Twitter user.
Another user tweeted, “People of Mangalore would always be grateful to Mrs Sudha Murthy.”
Twitterati also lauded the compol’s response to the situation in the district, thanking him for taking initiative.
It can be recalled that the Dakshina Kannada district was put on complete lockdown on Saturday, March 28, owing to the growing number of COVID-19 cases here and in the neighbouring district of Kasargod in Kerala. So far, the district has reported seven COVID-19 positive cases, one among whom is a 10-month-old baby.
