Mangalore : A student who failed in a subject, committed suicide by hanging herself  in her hostel room at Kankanady here on Wednesday July 2 afternoon.

The deceased has been identified as 21-year-old Manjusha Nair, a resident of Kollam in Kerala.

Manjusha,  a student of BSc (MLT) at a college in the city,  had reportedly failed in Microbiology in her second year BSc.

According to her friends, Manjusha also suffered from  chest pain and was under medication and with the studies hampering her, she was under terrible depression.

Police said that Manjusha has left behind a death note which says that she was ‘not a good daughter to her parents’ and did not want to disappoint them by failing again; hence she was taking this extreme step.

The body was shifted to Wenlock for post-mortem.  Inspector T D Nagaraj along with officials from Kadri police station arrived at the spot. Kadri police have registered a case.
