Mangaluru: The third annual convocation of Srinivas University was held on Saturday April 17 at its city campus in Pandeshwar.
The degree of Doctor of Letters (Honoris Causa) was conferred by Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji of Jagadguru Sri Madhwaachaarya Moola Mahaa Samsthaanam Upendra Teertha Peetham, Sri Puthige Math, Udupi and Expert in Vedic Architecture, Ayurveda and Yogic Science, Bengaluru, Acharya Dhanwant Singh.
“Srinivas University is leading in spreading knowledge. The university has got the blessing of Lord Srinivas and will progress. We need to give importance to spirituality and religious fields, then everything will be developed. If neglected, we will end up in problems. Srinivas University is giving the message to the whole world that priority should be given to spirituality,” said Sugunendra Theertha Swamiji.
Vice-chancellor Dr P S Aithal presented the annual report, and pro-chancellor Dr A Srinivas Rao welcomed the gathering.
Over 327 students comprising 205 undergraduate (UG) students and 114 postgraduate (PG) students were awarded the degrees. Ranks included 16 gold medals, 29 UG, 16 PG students, one each in MS and PhD, 7 DSc, and two DLitt (hc).
