Sullia : Six teachers of the Aletty Government High School in Sullia,  including the in-charge headmistress as well as a second grade assistant were suspended from service on charges of dereliction of duty by the Deputy Director of Public Instructions Moses Jayashekhar who conducted a surprise raid on the school on June 3, Monday.

Those suspended include  K Sandhya,in-charge headmistress, Assistant Teachers, KS Chandrashekhar, V Subrahmanya, K Hariprasad, Physical Instructor N Shivakumar, K Chandramathi and Second Grade Assistant Yogish Bharath.

When the DDPI led team visited the school, the in-charge headmistress was  absent without permission while even the teacher Chandrashekhar who was entrusted charge, was not in school.

Earlier the Block Education Officer had conducted a probe following complaints that the teachers of the school were going on unauthorized leave, were instigating students to revolt against teachers, and were  resorting to factionalism. The probe report  had revealed that some of the complaints were true.

Even a Zilla Panchayat meeting held in March had recommended action against erring teachers. Now, after the DDPI himself  raided the school, the suspension orders have been passed.
