Mangaluru: Rudolph Vinod Joyer Noronha has been awarded Ph.D. in History and Archaeology for this thesis entitled “The History of science and technology in Tulunadu during the colonial period” by Tumkur University.
He had completed his Ph.D. under the guidance of Prof. U S Moorthi, Professor of the Department of studies and research in History and Archaeology and former Chairman of Tumkur University.
Rudolph Noronha is from Kinnigoli. He loves learning different languages and also interested in history, literature, and philosophy, despite being a mechanical engineer by profession. At present, he is working as the General Manager (Corporate Communication) at MRPL.
Speaking to the Team News Karnataka Rudolph said, “It took almost 7 years to complete the Ph.D. thesis which was a comprehensive study on the history, science, and technology in Tulunadu during the colonial period and the major findings; motives of the colonialization and objectives were identified during the Ph.D. The use of science and technology as a tool for colonization was discussed. Long term and short term collateral benefits and adverse impacts of the process of introduction were thoroughly discussed in his thesis”. Thus, his research is considered very important as it is the first comprehensive study on the history and science, and technology in Tulunadu during the colonial period.
