Mangaluru: The Vocational Award was presented to Ideal Ice cream's Managing Director Mukund Kamath and two Corona Warriors recently. The award was presented by Rotary the Club of Mangaluru.
Mukund Kamath is the Managing Director and proprietor of Mangaluru’s iconic ice cream brand Ideal Ice Creams. "He was conferred upon the award for the innovation in the products, and placing the name of Mangaluru all over India," said President of Rotary Club Mangaluru, Rtn. Archibald Menezes.
The award was also conferred on Senior Specialist and Consultant Pulmonologist at Wenlock Hospital Dr Sharath Babu S, who served as the nodal officer for COVID-19 during the pandemic and Veena Vijayaraj, a District Microbiologist with the Dakshina Kannada Surveillance Unit who worked hard to trace contacts of the infected.
Veena Vijayaraj has been working as District Microbiologist of the Dakshina Kannada district since 2010. She graduated with an MSc in Medical Microbiology from MAHE University thereafter obtaining an MPhil in Medical Microbiology from Periyar University.
A Senior Specialist and Consultant Pulmonologist at Wenlock Hospital, Dr Sharath is a specialist in TB and chest diseases. He has previously served as the Medical Officer of Health with administrative responsibilities in the Department of Health and Family Welfare, Nodal Officer, Nodal DR TB centre, Wenlock Hospital, Nodal Officer for COVID 19 in Wenlock Hospital, Member of District Level Expert Committee on the management of COVID 19, DK, and Nodal Officer for AB-ARK at the Wenlock Hospital.
