Mangaluru: The Dakshina Kannada District in-charge Minister and Minister for Urban Development and Housing U T Khader has disclosed that the regional office of Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (RGUHS) will be set up in Mangaluru.
Addressing the reporters here on Saturday, June 15, Khader said there were a lot of medical and paramedical institutions in the coastal district. “Thousands of students from coastal district have been studying medical and paramedical courses here. As Rajiv Gandhi Health University is looking after the medical and paramedical institutions, its regional office will be set up in Mangaluru only,” he informed.
Khader also said that the land would be given by the Dakshina Kannada district administration to construct a regional office. “Proposal has been sent to the Mangalore University for 5 acres of land on its premises. However, before taking a final decision in this regard, a syndicate meeting of Rajiv Gandhi Health University will be held,” he informed.
Permanent solution for the victims of sea erosion
Khader informed that the government was planning to construct a residential building for the victims of sea erosion. “Government is listing the victim families in order to provide them with permanent houses. There is also a plan to provide Rs 10,000 per month to those families who lost their houses due to sea erosion, until the construction work on their residential buildings is completed,” he said.
