Mangaluru: District Commissioner Dr. Rajendra KV held a meeting to restrict the marketing activities around the central market to prevent overcrowding on Thursday, April 29.
In the meeting, it was pointed out that the district administration has come to know about the overcrowding at the central market during the lockdown relaxation time from 6 am to 10 am. Following the guidelines issued by the government of Karnataka the shops selling essential needs like milk, groceries, eggs, fish, meat, vegetables, and fruits are allowed to function, except these other shops will remain closed.
As central market was seen crowded with people without maintaining social distance and wearing the mask. It was decided that indulging in wholesale marketing activities near the central market will be declared unauthorized. Wholesale vendors will be shifted to the APMC yard of Baikampady. The essentials must be sold in the shops at the wards levels in a decentralized manner to prevent overcrowding.
Police have been directed to prevent the movement of all types of vehicles except for emergency purposes when a patient needs to be rushed to the hospital for treatment.
MLA Vedavyas Kamath, Police Commissioner Shashikumar, assistant commissioner (Law & Order) and other officials were also present.
