Mangaluru: As the water supply to city completes four days (96 hours), as scheduled under the new water rationing plan, water supply will be stopped for three days from Monday,  May 20 from 6 am onwards. Hence, people of Mangaluru need to be ready to face the same for another 72 hours from Monday.

As per the new water rationing plan, pumping of water to Mangaluru city limits will be completely stopped for three days and water will be supplied for next four days. As per the schedule, water was stopped from 6 am on Monday, May 13 to 6 am on May 16. The pumping of water was resumed from 6 am on May 16 and it continued till 6 am on Monday, May 20. As the supply of water for 96 hours ends on Monday, 6 am, people need to wait till May 23, 6 am, to receive water.

As on Saturday, the storage of water in Thumbe vented dam was 3.57 metres. Though there was rain in some parts of the district, on Saturday evening, it did not help to increase the water level in Thumbe vented dam. Hence, it is inevitable for the people of Mangaluru to cooperate with the district administration with the present system of water rationing.
