city innerMangaluru: The members of the public have urged the police department to take appropriate action against those commercial complexes and multi-storey buildings which violates the construction guidelines.

During the phone-in-programme at the Commissioner of Police office on Friday, January 18, a caller complained that the apartments and commercial complexes must keep parking slots at the basement of the building. But, most of the buildings are violating the construction guidelines by not keeping the parking slots. Due to this, the occupants of the buildings and visitors are forced to park their vehicles in the ‘No Parking’ zones, which led to traffic congestion. Hence, the police should take stringent action against such buildings, the caller urged.

Responding to it, Commissioner of Police T R Suresh clarified that it is the responsibility of the Mangaluru City Corporation (MCC). “A  list of buildings which have violated the guidelines has been submitted to MCC already but no action has been taken till the date. Police department will again write a letter to MCC to take action in this regard,” he informed.
