Mangaluru: MLC Ivan D’Souza asked MP and BJP state president Nalin Kumar Kateel to produce proper documents to prove his allegation that Siddaramaiah conspired to get former minister D K Shivakumar arrested in the alleged money laundering case.
Condemning Nalin’s statement, Ivan on Monday, September 9 said, “Nalin isn’t the right candidate for the post of BJP state president. Conflict between the RSS and BJP leaders led him to become the president and now after assuming charge, he is indulging in making baseless allegations against the Congress party and its leaders, like Siddaramaiah. He alleged that Siddaramaiah did not try to prevent the Income Tax (IT) department’s raid on D K Shivakumar’s house when he was the Chief Minister of the state. How can a CM prevent an IT raid that works as per the guidance of the Union Government? It was because of the conspiracy by the Union Government and BJP leaders that Shivakumar was arrested by the ED and not because of Siddaramaiah. If Nalin has strong evidence to prove his allegation, he should produce it immediately.”
The MLC also questioned the new Motor Vehicles (Amendment) Act and the hefty penalty collection. Pointing out the incident of a pillion rider, who died late on Sunday night in an accident in the Kankanady police station limits, after traffic police chased the motorcycle on which he was plying, Ivan said, “The new Motor Vehicles Act has not yet been implemented in states like West Bengal, Gujarat, Punjab, Goa and others. Why has the state government hastily implemented this Act, despite the roads and other infrastructure being under-developed here? Before implementing this Act, the government should seek the opinions of the elected representatives and the public.The implementation of this Act should be postponed till the next Assembly session.”
