Udupi: The DC Muddu Mohan, called the vigilance committee meet for health department, to prepare on an action plan to create awareness about communicable diseases at Gram Panchayath officials before monsoon.
The DC directed the health department officials to form a coordinative health committee and actively participate/ involve themselves in the awareness programme especially in the rural area.
PHC officials, Anganavadi workers, ASHA workers and NGOs will work as a team. There will be a door to door campaign on the communicable diseases and its precautionary measures.
He also directed the health department officials to adopt the awareness programme similar to that of SVEEP programmes.
Awareness programme will be conducted at 146 Gram Panchayaths and will acknowledge issues with regards to dengue, typhoid, rat fever, malaria, jaundice etc.
He also called for an effective cleanliness drive along with the Udupi CMC. He said the PDOs and environment engineer efficiently take part in the health and hygiene drive.
The DC also directed the public instruction department officials to make the students know the importance of washing hands before consuming food and other such sanitary habits.
