Mangaluru: Dakshina Kannada district in-charge Minister U T Khader has opined that senior leader B Janardhana Poojary praising Prime Minister Narendra Modi must be ‘a slip of tongue’ and unintentional.

Speaking to the reporters at district Congress office on Sunday, March 17 Khader said, earlier Poojary was hating Narendra Modi and his administration. “Poojary had guided the Congress party and its leaders to hate Modi pointing out his mistakes. Then how come Poojary would praise Modi now? I don’t believe that Poojary had praised Modi intentionally. His opinion of Modi must be either a slip of tongue or he intended to praise Rahul Gandhi, instead of Modi”, he said.

When asked about his response over the BJP workers’ appreciation for Janardhana Poojary after he praised Modi, Khader said that the BJP workers had blamed Poojary in a very bitter manner during the last Lok Sabha election. “If they (BJP leaders) have respect for Poojary, let them support Poojary during this Lok Sabha election from Mangaluru constituency. If they do so, the Congress will not field any candidate”, he said.

Khader asked the public to vote for the candidate who would be selected jointly by the Congress and the JDS. “Though there might be some misunderstandings between leaders, all should come together in order to keep the BJP away from power in all the 28 Lok Sabha constituencies”, he said.

Leaders like Ivan D’Souza, Sadashiv Ullal, Santhosh Shetty, Kanachur Monu among others were present.
