Mangaluru: The Nadanrithya School of Dance & Cultural Trust will be organising a unique dance performance at Town Hall, Mangaluru on December 8 from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm. The performance titled “Kadu Nadu Kadalina Naduve Shabarigayithu Sri Rama Darshana” will be a new interpretation of Shabari’s story.

Nadanrithya School of Dance Director Bhramari Shivaprakash, who has a Ph.D. in Indian Theatre, has choreographed 40 students of the Poorna Prajna PU College in Udupi for this dance performance.

Over the past two months, Bhramari Shivaprakash has been training the students in classical dance and theatrics. Furthermore, these students have also been taught Bharatnatyam’s Vidvat form of dance.

The performance is an attempt to portray the life of Shabari from Valmiki’s Ramayana, right from her childhood to adolescence. The script has been written by Prof Udyavara Madhava Acharya who will be handling the theatrical direction as well. Vinutha Acharya from Udupi will be lending vocal support for the performance.

The event will be inaugurated by MAHE Gandhian Centre for Philosophical Arts and Sciences Director Varadesh Hiregange followed by a keynote address by Yakshagana Artist and Scholar Dr. M Prabhakara Joshi. Vasundhara Performing Art Center (Mysuru) Director Dr. Vasundhara Doraswamy will also be presiding over the programme.
