Mangaluru: The Mangaluru Special Economic Zone (MSEZ) Ltd, on Tuesday, August 20 donated a computer worth Rs 60,000 to the Kuthlur Government School in Belthangady.
This computer was handed over to the school by MSEZ Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Sooryanarayana, through the Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists Association (DKDWJA) at the Patrika Bhavan.
It can be noted that the members of the DKDWJA had earlier paid a visit to the Kuthlur school, which was on the verge of being shutting down as they had too few students. When the journalists visited the school, the teachers and members of School Development and Monitoring Committee (SDMC) had requested them to provide the school with basic amenities to encourage parents to enrol their children in the school.
Obliging to the request, the members of the journalists’ association approached the MSEZ and requested them to extend their helping hand towards the school. The computer was therefore, donated under the MSEZ’s Corporate Service Responsibility (CSR) fund.
After handing over the computer, MSEZ CEO Sooryanarayana expressed their willingness to provide books and other stationery items to the school. DKDWJA president Srinivas Nayak Indaje informed that the association would strive hard to provide additional facilities to the school with the help of other corporate companies and the DK Zilla Panchayat.
Journalist Pushparaj B N compered the programme and Vijaya Kotian Padu proposed a vote of thanks.
MSEZ Public Relation Officer Ramachandra Bhandarkar, secretary Phanibhushan, DKDWJA general secretary Ibrahim Adkastala and others were present.
