Mangaluru: The proposal of merger of Vijaya Bank with Bank of Baroda has evoked widespread criticism. However, a letter issued by MP M Veerappa Moily states that he is being unnecessarily being dragged into the issue by DK MP Nalin Kumar Kateel.

In the letter dated January 16, Addressed to MP Kateel, Moily states that the former had said that Moily had made recommendation to the Parliamentary Standing Committee for Finance to merge Vijaya Bank with other banks.

Refuting this claim, Moily has said that he has never made any such recommendation.

Demanding an apology from Kateel, Moily has said that such irresponsible statements should not be made by an individual holding responsible position.

Meanwhile, DK district in-charge minister UT Khader, on Wednesday too made a reference on the issue during his press meet in Mangaluru and said that MP Kateel has been making irrelevant and baseless statements on the issue. He urged the MP to refrain from misguiding the people.
