M’luru Fisheries College to assess livestock damage in DK floods

Mangaluru: Five teams from the College of Fisheries, Mangaluru have been formed to assess the damage caused by the floods to livestock and fisheries in the Dakshina Kannada district.

College of Fisheries Dean A Senthil Vel formally commenced the study on Saturday, August 17.

Vel said that the five teams will visit the Mangaluru, Bantwal, Belthangady, Puttur and Sullia taluks to gauge the impact of the floods on the livestock.

Department of Fisheries (Economics and Extension) head S R Somashekar will be aiding the teams in their assessment along with the Department of Animal Husbandry.

Weekly reports will be drafted and submitted to the Karnataka Veterinary, Animal and Fisheries Sciences University (KVAFS). A University press release has stated that the progress of the teams will be monitored by the College Dean.
