Mangaluru: Mangaluru South MLA D Vedavyas Kamath released a booklet of the 35th state conference of journalists, which is scheduled to be held at the Town Hall on March 7 and 8.
After releasing the booklet at the Patrika Bhavan on Tuesday, January 21, Kamath extended his full support to the conference. “As the state conference will be held in Mangaluru, our city will be at the centre of the state’s attention. The concept of ‘Brand Mangaluru’ should be highlighted through this state-level conference and our city should get a good national reputation,” he said.
Conference committee convener and Mangaluru North MLA Dr Y Bharath Shetty, who was also present at the programme said, “As Mangaluru is famous for its hospitality, a large number of people want to come and stay here. It is an opportunity for us to boost our religious places and beach tourism,” he added.
Dakshina Kannada district Bus Operators Association president Dilarj Alva wished that the scheduled conference should focus on the inclusion of the Tulu language in the Eighth Scheduled of the Indian Constitution.
Senior journalist Vijay Kotian compered the programme. Dakshina Kannada District Working Journalists’ Union president Srinivas Nayak Indaje, general secretary Ibrahim Adkastala, state committee member Jagannath Shetty Bala, Senior Assistant Director of Information Department Khader Shah and others were present.
